Coupeville |
Duration |
6 hours (approximately 12
miles) |
Description |
This is a moderate paddle (SKIII)
due to the southern reach and the potential building seas with a
south wind. Launch from the Oak Harbor City Park
and paddle south along the shoreline passing Klootchman Rocks in Penn
Cove. During low tide it can be a 300' carry to the water,
also watch out for the shallow water coming out of the Oak Harbor.
It is recommended you pass north of the flats. From there cross over to Coupeville Warf.
There is a deli at Coupeville which is a good place to eat
lunch. The deli also rents kayaks. There are restaurants
and shops in town. Coupeville is one of
the original settlements on Whidbey and the town is
quite scenic so we will plan some time for exploring Coupeville
before heading back. Plan on exploring Penn Cove a bit but
stay clear of the mussel pens. |
